Minister of Health Last Minute Decisions Adopted Announced to Romanians

The Minister of Health is confirming to the Romanians all evening a decision that was officially adopted today by the Government of Romania at his request, and based on it important changes are made for the way vaccinations are reported in the country's national vaccination register.

The Minister of Health also requested important changes for the way in which communicable diseases are reported in Romania, this being one of the important problems that the governors needed to solve, especially in the context in which the Coronavirus pandemic is not yet over.

"At the proposal of the Ministry of Health, the Government of Romania approved today, May 18, 2022, the draft Government Decision on the approval of the reporting methodology and the information circuit in the National Electronic Register of Vaccinations. The normative act aims to optimize the reporting of vaccinations by updating the legislative framework regarding the reporting methodology and the information circuit in the National Electronic Register of Vaccinations (RENV) by all vaccination medical service providers.

Thus, medical service providers, who provide vaccination services, regardless of the form of organization of medical assistance within the public and private system and regardless of the health insurance company with which they concluded a contract for the provision of medical services, have the obligation to register in RENV as users in order to benefit from access data for reporting purposes.

The normative act provides, for the first time, contraventional sanctions for not registering data in the RENV. Failure to register data in the RENV constitutes a contravention and is sanctioned with fines between 500 and 5000 lei.

RENV is owned and managed by the National Institute of Public Health. At the proposal of the Ministry of Health, the Government of Romania approved on 18.05.2022 the draft Government Decision on the approval of the content and methodology of data collection and reporting for the surveillance of communicable diseases in the Single Register of Communicable Diseases.

The document updates the data reporting circuit for the surveillance of communicable diseases in the Single Register of Communicable Diseases, according to European directives aimed at optimizing and harmonizing reporting and better management of alerts. In this sense, medical service providers from the public and private system, as well as those from the health network belonging to other ministries, including those from social assistance units, have the obligation to report communicable diseases in the Single Register of Communicable Diseases (RUBT), and data validation will be carried out by the epidemiologist from the public health department."
