Defense Minister: Announcement on the End of the War in Ukraine, NATO Decisions

The Minister of Defense made a last-minute statement with an extremely important announcement and expected by millions of Romanians throughout the country, talking about the moment when the war in Ukraine should end, stating that the end is very far away, and no one he doesn't know when it will be.

The Minister of Defense is basically telling us a reality that even the officials in Ukraine refuse to admit, that the war does not have a clear end in sight, and that it could be prolonged for years, as said by the Secretary General of NATO, asking for the preparation of the alliance in this regard.

"All the analyzes show that this war, which Putin also thought would last 3 days, will not end soon. Of course it can transform, it can change its form from a war that had as its objective the conquest of an entire country, the elimination of a government and the transformation of the country into something else, it can transform into a regional conflict.

It is located in the south-eastern area, the two regions of Luhansk and Donetsk, then the Ukrainian coast, the attempts of the Russians to reach Odessa. All analyzes say that it will be a longer war than the world expected. There were several approximations, I also heard President Zelenski saying that this war could last until autumn, but we don't know.

No one knows the intention of Russia, which is led from a single center, and that being a person, it is very difficult to anticipate what a single person thinks when it comes to a war. It has already been many years since we had compulsory military service, we have an army of reservists whose average age is around 50 years.

We are a NATO country, and as you have seen in recent years, and as even the Russians did not believe, NATO passed after 2014, and especially now after the outbreak of the war, from collective security, which means treaties, discussions, support, to collective defense, and this means that we have the security of activating article 5 of the NATO article and benefiting from the protection of the alliance.

You have seen the advanced protection of NATO troops on the eastern flank, that means battle groups, 4 exist in the Baltic States and Poland, now 4 are being established in the southern flank, including in Romania. In the Baltic States there are over 10.000 NATO soldiers, in Romania there are over 5.000 soldiers with the necessary equipment and all the arsenal they have."
