During these days, the sailors of the Romanian Naval Forces carried out the Shield Protector 22 exercise in which they simulated a research mission - surveillance at the marine oil platforms, and below you can see all the details that the MApN provided regarding what was unfolded.
Research-surveillance mission at the marine oil platforms, as part of Exercise "Shield Protector 22", the Romanian Naval Forces carry out, between June 21-23, complex training activities and combat firing, at sea, in the air and on the ground, in the area Constanța-Mangalia and in Romania's maritime space in the Black Sea, to increase interoperability between the participating forces and to execute the fire missions planned in the 2022 training year.
Approximately 800 military personnel from the structures of the Fleet, the Naval Logistic Base "Pontica", the 243rd Radioelectronic and Observation Brigade "Callatis", the Maritime Hydrographic Directorate and the 110th Communications and Informatics Center practice standard operational procedures for naval surveillance, survey-neutralization of marine mines, maintaining the maritime image and air, as well as for providing information, logistics and hydrography during the conduct of combat actions.
At sea, the Maritime Battle Group consists of six ships and two Puma Naval helicopters, and on land the actions of this package of forces are supported by two mobile missile launchers.
In accordance with international legislation, the Maritime Hydrographic Directorate issued a notice for seafarers, in which the coordinates of the maritime districts where naval artillery fire is carried out, the period and the time interval in which the respective districts, from the Exclusive Economic Zone and from the Contiguous Zone, were announced of Romania are dangerous for navigation on the surface and in immersion, it being recommended to maintain a safe distance.
"Shield Protector" is an annual exercise, planned and organized by the Romanian Naval Forces, and aims to strengthen the skills of ship crews and command structures, in the application of standard NATO procedures to combat threats in the three environments, air, surface and underwater.
