Minister of Defense: Last Minute Announcement regarding the Romanian Army Soldiers

The Minister of Defense Last Minute Announcement of the Romanian Army

The Minister of Defense, Vasile Dincu, made a very important announcement regarding the Romanian Army soldiers in an official statement, and this in the presence of the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Mircea Geoana, while she was visiting an elite Romanian unit within the alliance.

The Minister of Defense speaks below about the importance of the military in the Romanian Army, and for them the authorities have announced important acquisitions of military equipment in the coming years, something that has been promised for a long time, but is accelerated during the war in Ukraine .

"We chose to come to this military unit because it is an elite unit, which is in the NATO process of modernizing the Army. It is one of the brigades that completed this process. We are going to bring here new equipment, starting next year we will have Piranha 5 here, and in the following years other endowment elements, which are in the area of modernization of the NATO armies.

Currently, the Ministry of National Defense has ongoing programs both for the modernization of combat equipment, but also concrete and urgent measures to improve the working and living conditions of military and civilian personnel. This is my struggle and that of the team I lead at the top of the Ministry.

The most important resource of the Romanian Army is the people: military and civilian personnel. Without an optimal staffing level of the military structures, without motivated people who benefit from professional prospects in step with the normal aspirations of the current times, without decent conditions both at work and at home, with families, we cannot talk about a realistic and effective strategy to modernize our military.

We need a decent pay system for our military and civilian personnel, and this is not a political promise, but a major priority of my ministerial mandate.

Thanking the soldiers of the 81st Mechanized Brigade for their professionalism, dedication and the impeccable way they did their duty in foreign missions, from Angola to Afghanistan, NATO's Deputy Secretary General said: "Romania will continue to invest in defense. It's not a frivolous expense. I know that many people believe that we can do something else with this money. But look at the war on our borders. We need a better equipped military. We need better motivated soldiers."
