Lionel Messi had several important conditions to sign a new contract with Barcelona and remain a player of the team, and one of them was the transfer of the player Sadio Mane from Liverpool to the team at Camp Nou. The player who transferred this year from Liverpool to Bayern Munich, could help Barcelona last summer if Lionel Messi had the condition fulfilled by the Catalan club, but this did not happen.

Lionel Messi would have wanted an Argentinian central defender at Barcelona, separate from Sadio Mane, but the Catalan team was not in a suitable position to buy players at that time. Barcelona did not even have the money to keep Lionel Messi in the team, so the acquisition of others could not even be talked about, and so the Argentine star arrived at PSG, in the end, even if he has not yet fully integrated into the team which evolves in Paris.
Lionel Messi would not have imposed a similar measure including at PSG, although the team was close to bringing Sadio Mane this summer, but the player chose to go to Bayern Munich, an equally strong team. Regardless of Sadio Mane's decision, Lionel Messi wanted strong players at Barcelona, even if in the end this did not happen, and even he was forced to leave the team, most likely with no chance of ever returning.
