Coronavirus Romania: The number of new cases increased slightly, reduced protection in front of Omicron

Coronavirus Romania The number of new cases increased slightly, Omicron protection reduced

The coronavirus is still present in Romania during this period in which the number of cases registers an increase compared to the previous week, and Alexandru Rafila attributes everything to the new variants BA.4 and BA.5, which generate a sixth wave of infections in many European countries at the moment, with quite a lot of concern in them.

Romania has given up daily reports on the Coronavirus since the past weeks, and this is because the daily number of new cases had reached a very low level, 3 times lower than what is being recorded now, but the situation is changing during this period, Alexandru Rafila confirming that the basal reproduction rate has reached almost 1.

The measures to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus in Romania have disappeared for some time, something that is not exactly a big surprise since they were contested for a long time during the entire period in which they were imposed, but in their absence it is possible that the number of new cases to grow rapidly, especially since the protection for people is extremely low.

Alexander Rafila said that neither vaccination, nor passing through the disease, offers long-term protection against infection/reinfection, so that anyone is susceptible to infection, he nevertheless affirms that the new variants of Omicron are not as dangerous as those that have brought the world to its knees in the first 2 years of the pandemic.
