Virgil Popescu Romania Continue the Discussions United Arab Emirates Energy Sector Cooperation

Virgil Popescu confirmed in an official announcement that Romania continues to discuss with the United Arab Emirates to see what are the next steps that must be taken in order to expand cooperation between the countries in the field of energy, this after Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca discussed with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan about our country's intentions.

Virgil Popesc continues to discuss with the representatives of the United Arab Emirates in order to establish more clearly what exactly needs to be done so that Romania can buy, at least, oil in the coming months, and reduced more dependence on Russia from this point of view.

"Today I had a working meeting with Mahrah Alshaya Al-Ali Chargé d'affaires of the United Arab Emirates Embassy to discuss the next steps we are taking to expand cooperation in the field of energy.

Ifollowing the discussions I recently had with Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă at the meeting with AS Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and with HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE We also discussed the identification of new opportunities for collaboration, following the second session of the Commission on cooperation between the Government of Romania and the United Arab Emirates.

I once again sent the invitation to Emirati companies to invest in the Romanian energy market. Together with Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă and other colleagues from the Government and other institutions, I participated in the meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group for Energy Security issues. We discussed the situation of gas supply necessary for both households and the functioning of the economy.

I conveyed that the natural gas storage supply schedule is within the agreed parameters, Romania already storing more than half of the target assumed at the European level, of 80 percent and 43 percent, respectively.

Today I had a working meeting with HE Nubrakh Rustemov – the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Romania, Azamat Zhangulov the vice-president of KMG and Claudiu Conțanu, Chief Trading & Supply Chain Officer at KMG. We discussed the sources of supply of petroleum products, the stocks and the good collaboration between the two states in the field of energy."
