(VIDEO) NASA Presented the First Color Images of the Universe taken with the James Web Telescope

NASA launched the James Webb space telescope just a few months ago, being the most powerful instrument of its kind ever made by the American space agency, and now it presents the first color images taken deep in space with its help, and below you have all the details .

NASA has unveiled the first five color images and spectrographic data from the world's most powerful space telescope, the James Webb Space Telescope, a partnership with ESA (European Space Agency) and CSA (Canadian Space Agency). The world got its first glimpse of the mission's full capabilities at an event broadcast live from the agency's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, on July 12, 2022.

The event presented the following objectives:

  • The Carina Nebula: a blighted landscape of bright stars and space rocks
  • Stephan's Quintet: An enormous mosaic with a visual grouping of five galaxies
  • Southern Ring Nebula: A nebula with thousands of years of rings of gas and dust in all directions
  • WASP 96-b: A distinct signature of water in the atmosphere of an exoplanet orbiting a distant Sun-like star
  • SMACS 0723: the deepest and clearest infrared image of the distant universe yet
