Considering the serious situation that several countries in Europe are going through, affected by serious fires, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, through the Department for Emergency Situations, as the national contact point, notified the European partners about the availability of support from Romania, and through the informational portal dedicated to CECIS (Common Emergency Communication and Information System) of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, the need for the intervention of the forces and means provided by our country was specified.

It is the third international mission of this type for Romanian Air Force aircraft, the first taking place in July 2018, in Greece, and the second in August 2021, in North Macedonia.

The C-27 J Spartan aircraft, configured for firefighting, which can carry 6.000 liters of water (six containers) per pass, have also acted, since 2017, to extinguish several forest fires in our country – in Mehedinți, Alba, Hunedoara and Buzău counties.
