"Today was the first meeting of the technical working group for the elaboration of the plan of measures necessary for the reform of primary medical care. The development of primary health care services, both preventive and curative, increasing the population's access to this type of services, reducing bureaucracy and a medium-term policy on the development of human resources in primary health care is the essential condition for ensuring universal access to health services.

The first meeting was led by the minister, university professor dr. Alexandru Rafila and the technical group is coordinated by the secretary of state conf. dr. Adriana Pistol and includes representatives of the Ministry of Health and the National Health Insurance House, representatives of the National Society of Family Medicine, of the medical advisory committee of the ministry's family, representatives of organizations of patients with chronic diseases or with relevant activity in prevention activities.

The working group will meet weekly to analyze the documents produced for each of the mentioned objectives and will call upon other organizations or persons with expertise in the field as needed.

The distribution of potassium iodide pills is for the purpose of administration to the population up to 40 years of age ONLY in case of exposure after a nuclear incident. Preventive administration of tablets is contraindicatedSince the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, the Ministry of Health has been concerned with the procurement of iodine pills and initiated a campaign to inform the population about how to use them.

The distribution to the population is made free of charge based on the prescription issued by the family doctor. This is not new, the ministerial order regulating the activity has been in force since June 23, 2022.
