Minister of Health Last Minute Government Decision Official Measures Involvement of the WHO

The Minister of Health published today a very important Government decision in which a series of measures for the health system in Romania are presented, measures that must be implemented for the PNRR, but for which the WHO would provide technical support.

The Minister of Health would sign a memorandum with the WHO for the organization's experts to offer their technical help to improve the medical care that is offered in Romania, the funds available through the PNRR will facilitate this for millions of Romanians throughout the country, something that is needed for a very long time.

"Studies show that substandard healthcare is associated with significant resources and can harm the well-being of the population. The quality of medical care and patient safety play a key role in building trust in health services. Result 1.1. The performance and quality indicators that will be used for the selection of health facilities that will benefit from the Health Quality Fund.

Development of the Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety Agenda and Action Plan that includes a series of process indicators, outcome indicators and patient-specific indicators to be used in the evaluation of healthcare providers, as well as the methodology for performance-based selection of facilities beneficiary.

Pilot launch of procedures that facilitate the implementation of quality measurement modalities and pilot study, as well as implementation of the selected core set of quality indicators in 3-5 health facilities to verify technical feasibility. A complete methodological guide for measuring and monitoring quality indicators. Elaboration of national definitions and indicators for the Quality of medical care and patient safety in Romania.

Result 1.2. Improving the accessibility of health services by reducing the percentage of people who report unmet medical needs for financial reasons (2) waiting lists. Accessibility/need to travel long distances the healthcare quality framework will enable appropriate implementation across the country, with a focus on underserved areas on the accessibility map support for mapping hospitals and their access routes, taking into account infrastructure, social disparities, roads and services and other factors affecting accessibility for better adaptation of existing units

Outcome 1.3 Communication activities. The technical assistance for Romania under Reform 1 of the PNRR includes communication activities aimed at ensuring the distribution of information and advertising materials on web pages and social networks, press appearances regarding the progress and results obtained."
