The WHO made an extremely worrying warning that is meant to sound an alarm for the whole world, and this is because a series of urgent measures are required to do more research on what Long COVID means, how big are the long-term effects on people, and what treatment is needed.
The WHO has been drawing attention for some time to the fact that Long COVID affects millions, over millions, of people on the planet, without knowing the clear number due to the fact that there are many people who have not been officially confirmed as being infected with the Coronavirus, so no real estimates can be made regarding the size of the problem.
The WHO told us that Long COVID is a condition due to which some of the people who had serious forms of the Coronavirus remain with symptoms that do not disappear even after several months, or 1 year after infection, and the health systems in various countries around the globe are now starting to face more and more people who feel them.
The WHO has been asking for some time for studies and analyzes regarding the impact that Long COVID has, and will have in the long term, but it remains to be seen to what extent they will fulfill these requests before the problem becomes too serious for the whole world, and far too serious to be kept under control by states.
