The Minister of Defense talks below about the fact that Romanians should not be afraid of a war involving Romania or NATO, but also that the authorities are looking for the best solutions to protect people, and the economic environment, from the months difficulties that will follow in our country.
"I think that in this period, and this has started, we will have to find solutions that can protect the population, this is the first thing for this period. The Prime Minister tasked the Minister of Energy and ANRE to work together to find a solution. I hope we will find, and PSD will not make concessions here, find the best solutions for the protection of the population and the economic environment.
There is none... we will probably have to make new savings, as Macron said. I think that we will have to count on the responsibility of the people, of the population, and I made 20 waves during the COVID period. At the beginning, I thought that people would not respect the restrictions, that's what we all thought, that it was impossible not to go out on the street, to the store.
78%, an average, of the Romanians respected the restrictions, the lockdown that we had at one point. Even if sometimes it seemed irrational, because it blocked people from the spiritual activities of holidays, Easter, in the end people respected these things. I think that there is also a need for good government communication, for communication and empathy with people, and for our understanding.
If we will have people who will communicate, rather, populist, then it is obvious that you cannot articulate a communication and a behavior on the part of the government in which we all do what is necessary to make savings. Romanians at this moment can rest assured that we are in the best possible situation from the perspective of Romania's security and defense.
We are in the strongest alliance, we have a strategic umbrella that protects us at this moment, and that we don't have to worry from this point of view. Of course it is the most undesirable situation, Romania and NATO, there are no chances of entering into an open military conflict now."
