Sorin Grideanu Romania is the Leader in Global Statistics of Digital Development

Sorin Grindeanu, the Minister of Transport, announced that Romania occupies leading positions in all global statistics of digital development, and that 85% of fixed internet connections allow download speeds of at least 100 Mbps for Romanians who have them from service providers of telecommunications.

Romania is going to spend 1.8 billion euros, according to Sorin Grindeanu, to continue its digital development, the money being provided through PNRR, and the projects are going to be implemented in the coming years, if the benchmarks for granting the money by The European Commission.

It is an honor for Romania to be the host country of the Conference of Plenipotentiaries of the International Telecommunication Union. It is a great joy for me, because today a dream is coming true: I managed as the head of ANCOM to get this meeting organized in #Romania, and today it became a reality!

All because we believed in our ability to support such an important event at the Palace of Parliament. That is why I welcome the adoption of the Bucharest Declaration "Building a better digital future for all" in the Ministerial Round Table of the 50 high-level representatives.

It is certain that the decision of the #ITU Council from June 2019 - to accept Romania's offer to organize and host this meeting - confirms the progress made in the last decade by our country in this field.

Thanks to the coherent public policies led by #MCID and #ANCOM, Romania enjoys a series of favorable conditions for the development of electronic communications. We benefit from quality and affordable services. We pride ourselves on our specialist IT workforce.

Romania occupies leading positions in all global statistics of digital development: 85% of fixed internet connections allow download speeds of at least 100 Mbps. However, we are aware that our efforts to develop this area must continue. We envision the further development of digital public services, connectivity, cyber security and digital skills.

To this end, we committed to spend 1,8 billion euros for Romania's digital development, the most significant financial contribution to Romania's development included in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. (PNRR) Let's not forget: the way we live and use this technological advance dictates the development of our economies and societies.
