"The visit of Jose W. Fernandez, the undersecretary of state for economic growth, energy and environment from the United States of America, to Romania, to the Ministry of Energy is a sign of the good collaboration we have with the USA.

After the meeting we had in the summer in the USA, today we continued the discussions on the strengthening of the strategic partnership in the field of energy as well as commercial and bilateral relations between the two states. Also, a topic of common interest that was debated during the meeting is represented by the strengthening of energy security.

We received the assurance of full support from the US, the discussions focusing on the support we have for the development of Romania's civilian nuclear program, for ensuring security for the supply of natural gas and LNG to Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

Moreover, together with Jose W. Fernandez I attended the signing ceremony by which Nuclearelectrica SA and Nova Power & Gas SRL launch RoPower Nuclear SA, the project company for the development of small modular reactors in Romania, on the site of the former coal-fired power plant from Doicești, Dâmbovița county.

The project is an example of the successful relations between Romania and the USA in the field of nuclear energy, which bring many benefits, in particular, economic stability and energy security. I thank our American partners and the United States Under Secretary for Economic Development, Energy and Environment, United States Department of State, Jose W. Fernandez, for supporting and supporting bilateral cooperation on nuclear energy programs. I also reiterate the fact that the Government of Romania supports this important project, which will contribute to the consolidation of energy security and energy independence for our country and neighboring countries.
