Minister of Energy: Warning Notice Sent for Millions of Romanians

Minister of Energy Warning Notice Sent Millions of Romanians

The Minister of Energy sent a very serious warning message that should reach the attention of all Romanians, and this is because he is talking to millions of people all over the country about the fact that energy is being used by Russia to blackmail the whole of Europe in the war that now takes him to Ukraine.

The Minister of Energy says that the new Greece-Bulgaria gas interconnector will greatly help to reduce the continent's dependence on Russia, and will put an end to the blackmail it is subject to at the moment, Romania concluding other important agreements to ensure energy security for future.

"Together with Prime Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă I am in Bulgaria where I participated in the launch event of the commercial exploitation of the Greece-Bulgaria Interconnector, together with other regional and European leaders, but also with representatives of companies operating in the energy sector from the states directly interested in the project.

The completion of the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector is a very important step for the design of the energy market in the region. Even more, a public statement through which we demonstrate that together we offer a categorical answer: that we do not allow energy to be used as a weapon of blackmail. Thus, we ensure the diversification of sources and supply routes and, at the same time, strengthen energy security, with a view to energy independence.

Gas imports from Azerbaijan through this interconnector will represent a viable alternative source from now on, which will ensure Romania and other states on the distribution diagram of this gas network access to the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP).

I had working meetings with the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev and the Interim Bulgarian Prime Minister, Galab Donev, with the President Ilham Aliyev – Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic, Kyriakos Mitsotakis. I would also like to thank my fellow Ministers of Energy for the good collaboration we have.

The Romanian delegation also included the general director of SNTGN Transgaz SA, Ion Sterian, the general director of SNGN Romgaz SA, Răzvan Popescu, and the deputy director of SNGN Romgaz SA, Aristotel Jude."
