The Government of Romania: Historical Announcement for the Future of Romania

Government of Romania Historical Announcement for the Future of Romania

The Romanian government announced today the conclusion of a historic agreement for Romania with the European Union, and this is because 31.5 billion euros of funding is offered for vital development projects for our country.

Historic day for the future of Romania! The Partnership Agreement with the European Union for the period 2021-2027, signed today, in Alba Iulia, together with Elisa Ferreira, European Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, means our ability to finance vital development projects with a total value of over 45 billion euro. More than two-thirds of this amount, 31,5 billion euros, is allocated from the European Union budget, and 13,6 billion euros from the national budget.

It is the largest amount of European money that Romania receives since joining the Union, in a single multi-year budget period. From the available resources, we will develop transport infrastructure or health projects, sustainable development, smart development and digitization, education programs, employment, inclusion and social dignity. A good part of them will be developed in parallel with the projects started in the period 2014-2020, which will be able to be continued even after the end of the previous programming period.

Correlated with the almost 30 billion euros from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, these new financing opportunities mean for Romania a leap towards development and a huge chance to reduce the gaps between regions.

Thanks to our European partners for all the support! The government I lead is firmly committed to capitalizing on European resources for the development of Romania and increasing the quality of life of Romanians!
