Minister of Energy Official Announcements Last Minute Measures Taken Romania

The Minister of Energy made a series of last-minute official announcements with the important measures that were taken for the good of millions of Romanians throughout the country, and this is because we are talking about decisions that target investments of billions of euros.

The Minister of Energy talks below about the development of the national energy infrastructure through a series of very important strategic investments that are financed through the Modernization Fund, and you can find more details about everything that is happening below.

"We invest in the development of the national energy infrastructure! I would like to thank my colleagues in the ministry for the efforts they made to operationalize the Modernization Fund. And today, by signing the nine financing contracts, we are taking concrete steps in this direction. I wish Transelectrica good luck in finalizing these very important investment objectives, which will ensure our energy security and independence!

Prime Minister Nicolae - Ionel Ciucă participated today, October 10, in the signing of the first nine financing contracts from the Modernization Fund, in order to implement investment objectives of particular importance for the development of the national energy infrastructure.

The contracts were signed between the Ministry of Energy, as the national authority for the implementation and management of the funds allocated to Romania from the Modernization Fund and the National Electric Power Transport Company Transelectrica SA, as the transport and system operator of the National Energy System ( SEN).

The event was attended by the Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, the general secretary of the government, Marian Neacșu, the president of the Transelectrica Directorate, Gabriel Andronache. The non-refundable value of the nine investment projects to be implemented by CNTEE Transelectrica SA, with financing from the funds allocated to Romania from the Modernization Fund, is 424.404.842,98 million Euros.

The investment objectives, whose financing applications have been approved by Decisions of the European Commission, will lead to the modernization of electricity transmission capacities and the improvement of energy efficiency, through the construction of new overhead power lines and their interconnection to the SEN, the construction or retrofitting of some new power stations, optimizing the operation of some overhead power lines, including through the installation of Smart Grid-type online monitoring systems and the digitization of the electric transport network.

At the same time, the projects financed through the Modernization Fund will contribute to increasing the interconnection capacity with the European energy system, as well as to the development of Romania's electric transmission network, respectively to the security, flexibility and adequacy of the National Energy System, providing the premises for the commissioning of new renewable energy production capacities."
