DIGI RCS & RDS, the Romanian telecommunications group with millions of clients both in Romania and in other European countries, has taken an extremely important decision that many of its clients must know about, and this is because it submitted the documents for to license spectrum for its 5G network in the country.
DIGI RCS & RDS launched its 2019G network in Romania in 5, and extended it until the spring of 2020, when the pandemic completely blocked things, but an important role was also played by the fact that the Romanian authorities avoided organizing an auction for 5G frequencies due to problems with Huawei equipment.
Now those from Huawei say that RCS & RDS are among the companies that have submitted documentation to license the spectrum that will be used for 5G networks, Vodafone and Orange being the other two companies, but all their files have been accepted, so we are going to the next part of the process.
RCS & RDS will participate in the auction for the 5G spectrum on November 8, i.e. tomorrow, together with Orange and Vodafone, and depending on how much each company is willing to pay, we will find out how much and how the 5G networks will be expanded the three big groups of telecommunications operators will have them in Romania.
Until Thursday, October 27, 2022, the deadline for submission, ANCOM received 3 participation applications from ORANGE ROMANIA SA, RCS & RDS SA and VODAFONE ROMANIA SA in the competitive selection procedure organized for the allocation of the 555 MHz in the 700 MHz bands , 1500 MHz, 2600 MHz and 3400-3800 MHz.
The tender commission will analyze the qualification documents and announce by November 4, 2022 at the latest which operators will participate in the tender launched by the Authority on September 19, 2022.
