Nicolae Ciuca announces the fact that following the discussions with the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, he conveyed the appreciation of our country vis-à-vis the key role it played in the adoption of the decisions that the European Union had in the face of the challenges brought the war in Ukraine.
We have conveyed our full appreciation to the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, for her key role in adopting a swift and strong European Union response to the challenges we have faced this year, primarily in dealing with the dramatic consequences of the war of aggression of Russia against Ukraine.
Romania was in the first line of action. The institutional efforts were complemented and supported exemplarily by the extraordinary solidarity and generosity of Romanian citizens, civil society and the business environment.
In the new geopolitical reality, the need to strengthen the European project, European unity and cohesion and increase the resilience of the European Union is all the more obvious. I am convinced that the Schengen Area will become stronger, safer and more prosperous through the integration of Romania.
The strong message of support sent today in the Romanian Parliament by President Roberta Metsola is a guarantee that our objective will materialize as soon as possible, and Romania will get its well-deserved place in the area of free movement.
We will continue to make efforts together with our European partners to continue the good results achieved in 2022, materialized in the establishment of the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism, but also to be part of the response solutions to the management of the energy crisis, inflation, and the protection of our citizens and to maintain European unity.
