The Romanian Government Announces New Measures on the Romanian Energy Market

The Romanian government has announced a series of very important new measures on the energy market in Romania, and this is because we are talking about decisions that will be beneficial for the creation of renewable energy, or support for people who need help with their bills.

Managing the energy crisis is among the important issues and objectives assumed at the government level. We have taken a number of measures to encourage the production of energy from renewable sources, including the installation of photovoltaic panels in more households.

This year, we will increase to 3 billion lei the financing of the government's Casa Verde Photovoltaic Program. If last year, 40.000 households benefited from such financing, in 2023 another 150.000 beneficiaries will be added.

I talked with the Minister of the Environment, Tanczos Barna, about simplifying the process of accessing this program by citizens, as well as how to shorten the time for evaluating submitted files, so that the process runs optimally.

We minimize the number of documents required for applicants. You will need an identity card, an extract from the land registry, proof that the applicant has no debts to the state or the local budget and, at the end of the installation of the photovoltaic system, the connection certificate attesting the quality of the prosumer, in order to benefit from this financing.

We anticipate that by February 15th we will approve the Environmental Fund Administration's budget, which includes this government program, and in March we can start rolling it out to support people in their efforts to become electricity independent.
