Germany Approves Delivery of 178 Leopard 1 Tanks to Ukraine

Germany has officially approved the delivery of 178 Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine in the coming months, the figure being a very large one, but we are talking about tanks made several decades ago, which are not much better, or worse, than the Soviet ones that the Ukrainian army already had.

Germany will still only deliver a part of the Leopard 1 tanks in 2023, and that's because the vast majority of them will be delivered only in 2024, very late compared to the needs that Ukraine has now, the country preparing for a the new major Russian offensive, with the threat of hundreds of thousands of new soldiers sent into battle.

"#Germany's Federal Security Council has approved the export of a total of 178 Leopard 1 main battle tanks from industrial stocks. The first tanks are due to be delivered to #Ukraine this summer, but most won't be delivered until next year."
