The Romanian Army has officially issued a warning that all Romanians throughout the country must know about at the moment, and this is because we are directly targeted by what the MApN representatives say in relation to new disinformation circulating in the online environment.
The Romanian Army says that the recent posts on social networks regarding an alleged mobilization of reservists from Romania are completely false, as there is no preparation for our country's entry into the war between Ukraine and Russia, everything being just a new attempt to scare the Romanians.
In the online space in Romania, the manipulations regarding the so-called "preparations" that the national defense system would make for the mobilization of reservists, obviously, as has been speculated, with the (un)declared purpose of being sent to the war in Ukraine (!). As "evidence", a series of summons orders to clarify the military situation recently issued by some sector military centers of the Capital are invoked.
As I have already explained, in this platform and in other official communications, the issuing of summons orders to clarify the military situation by the military centers is a routine procedure, provided for by Law no. 446 of November 30, 2006 regarding the preparation of the population for defense (art. 51).
These documents are handed over, according to art. 45, para. (1) lit. a) from the same law, by the representatives of the specialized structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
We specify that updating the databases of reservists is an activity that the county or sector military centers carry out permanently, at the deadlines provided by law. The application of the procedures provided by the cited law is not related to the security situation near Romania's borders. Annually, county or sector military centers issue several thousand such documents in the name of military reservists, depending on the needs to update the database.
We reiterate the recommendation that, before redistributing news that appears in cyberspace that has an obvious alarmist character or has the potential to generate panic and concern, we verify it from credible sources.
