Netflix, by far the largest on-demand video streaming platform in the whole world, is again in the attention of the whole world because of a very controversial decision that was taken by an extremely important EU country, and this because the video streaming platform upon request it was banned there by the authorities.
Netflix was banned in public institutions by the French authorities, a decision that surprised many people, and this is because we are talking about such an important country that made a decision of this kind, a completely unexpected one, but it is motivated by the lack of security offered by them.
Netflix was included in a list of other platforms that do not guarantee a sufficient level of security for users, among them are TikTok or Candy Crush, the authorities in Paris stating that because of them, employees could be the target of cyber attacks because of which sensitive data could be stolen.
As some of you already know very well, France has for some time banned the TikTok application among members of the government, and even when it comes to President Emmanuel Macron, and this is because the Chinese platform is seen as being controlled by the Chinese state, which is not it's the case of Netflix.
Netflix is, unfortunately, just a collateral victim, just like many other online platforms accessed by millions of people around the world, but even so, the French government does not seem willing to change its decision, at least not yet. although everything could change in the future, if methods are found to guarantee data security.
