Sorin Grindeanu, the Minister of Transport, made a series of extremely important last-minute announcements for millions of Romanians throughout the country, the first of which centered on the railway accident in Galati, in which a train conductor lost his life, but and the measures taken after it.
Sorin Grindeanu also talks about a meeting he had with the official representative of Ukraine in Romania, but below he also has good news for the Craiova - Pitesti express road, the latter being closer to completion, the construction term for it being 18 months of days.
"In times of great trial, no words can ease the loss of a loved one, the suffering and the pain. Following the railway accident in Galati in which the conductor of train R7576 lost his life, I send my sincere condolences to the grieving family. As the Minister of Transport, I decided on a series of measures aimed at increasing the safety level of travelers, but also of CFR Călători staff.
I also want the technical standards in the railway system to always be ensured at the best parameters so that such tragedies do not happen again. Following tonight's incident in Galati Station, until the causes of its occurrence are clarified, and considering that it is the second railway accident in a very short time, I decided the following: to request CFR Călători to urgently start a technical check of railway rolling stock in use.
Moreover, following the incident at Teleorman, I ordered the re-examination of all locomotive drivers starting in April. As Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, I believe that the priority of CFR Călători is, first of all, the safety of travelers!
Good news for the Craiova – Pitesti Expressway! Today, the announcement for the contract to complete the works for Section 1 with a length of 17,7 km was posted in SEAP. The deadline for submitting offers is 04.05.2023. And the estimated value of the contract is 544,13 million lei (without VAT). The financing will be provided from European Non-Reimbursable Funds.
The works that remained to be executed, after the termination of the previous contract, must be completed within a maximum of 18 months. The Participation Announcement will be visible in SEAP after validation in the Official Journal of the European Union. Today I had a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine in Romania, Ihor Prokopchuk. Ukraine requested the temporary acceptance of the Romanian authorities for the performance of international commercial charter flights from and to #Romania by a certain Ukrainian aviation company."
