Minister of Defense Announcement LAST TIME Decisions European level Ukraine war

The Minister of Defense brings to the attention of the Romanians the very important decisions for the war in Ukraine taken at the European level, and this is because within the Council for Foreign Affairs in Brussels, Russia's aggression was at the center of the discussions that were held by his counterparts in the countries EU and NATO.

The Minister of Defense talks below about what was decided at the European level regarding helping Ukraine, from the point of view of supporting the efforts that the country is making to repel Russia's constant attacks, but also to recapture its territories that have were occupied by the enemy.

"Today, in Brussels, during the Foreign Affairs Council meeting, in the format of defense ministers, we will discuss #EU support for Ukraine. Also on the #CAE agenda are recent defense joint procurement initiatives. Together with the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, we will address issues regarding EU-NATO cooperation on different levels, especially from the perspective of ensuring a common response to the challenges in the current security environment.

#EU - #NATO cooperation is vital for a common response to today's security challenges, especially in the common operational areas: space, maritime and cyber. The meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council in the format of defense ministers, which has just ended in Brussels, was a new opportunity to confirm the support of the European states for Ukraine.

During the discussions, I emphasized how important the #EU's consistent support is for the defense industry in Eastern European states, to ensure the consolidation of the European industrial base in an inclusive manner. I reiterated Romania's firm support for Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, for their European aspirations.

The evolution of the Russian Federation's war of aggression against Ukraine highlighted the importance of continued support for Kiev. Lessons learned in the context of war must be taken into account in the processes of developing military capabilities, including the acquisition of defense equipment.

On the sidelines of the CAE meeting, the defense ministers met within the Steering Committee of the European Defense Agency (EDA). During the meeting, the latest assessments of the EU's operational efforts and milestone progress on the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) were presented. The discussions were substantial and constituted a new opportunity to confirm the support of the European states for Ukraine. Recent steps at the EU level to update cyber defense policy were highlighted."
