Austria: EXCEPTIONAL measures with Germany, LAST-MINUTE announcement for Romania, Schengen

Austria EXCEPTIONAL measures Germany LAST MINUTE announcement Romania Schengen

Austria announces through Minister Gerhard Karner the exceptional measures it has taken together with Germany in recent months, and makes a last-minute announcement regarding Romania's accession to Schengen, and this is because during a meeting with the German counterpart Nancy Faeser, the two discussed the great problem of migration from Europe.

Austria and Germany organized air flights for the repatriation of illegal migrants who arrived on the territories of the two countries, expressly asking the EU to send the repatriation of illegal migrants, especially those with no chance of staying in the Schengen Area, but also to achieve these procedures at the external borders of the EU.

Austria wants Germany to put pressure on the European Commission to take radical measures regarding the implementation of asylum procedures in third countries, not in those of the EU, and the much faster repatriation of those who have no chance of staying in the Schengen Area, and this can seriously help Romania to join the space without internal border controls more quickly.

"We need support, both from big countries, and from countries like Germany - and we received very good signals today that this is also happening. I know that Germany – including Nancy Faeser – will exert pressure in this direction. Also, regarding the issue of asylum procedures at external borders.

Fast, fast procedures so that these people, who have no chance of asylum, must return quickly. The EU must step on the brakes on asylum by preventing abuses. For example, this year we organized five charter flights together with Germany, where we brought people back – to Nigeria, for example.”
