The Minister of Defense sends Romanians from all over the country an information with a last-minute decision regarding the Romanian Army, NATO, and what is happening in Romania starting from Monday, May 29, because the multinational exercise begins SABER GUARDIAN 23, and Angel Tîlvăr will be present at its opening.
The Minister of Defense, Angel Tîlvăr, will participate together with other members of the MApN leadership, they are going to start a multinational exercise in which the soldiers of the Romanian Army will work together with those of many NATO countries, approximately 10.000 soldiers will participate in the maneuvers which ends on June 9.
"The opening ceremony of the multinational exercise "SABER GUARDIAN 23" (SG23) will take place on Monday, May 29, starting at 11.00 a.m., at the "Smârdan" Secondary Combat Training Center, in the presence of the Minister of National Defense, Angel Tîlvăr, and the Chief of the Defense Staff, General Daniel Petrescu. Approximately 23 soldiers, of which over 29 Romanian soldiers, with over 9 technical means from our country and from 10.000 allied and partner nations will participate in the SG5.000 exercise between May 1.700 and June 13.
The exercise, led by the Joint Forces Command "General Ioan Emanoil Florescu", represents the most extensive and complex multinational training activity this year and will take place in training ranges and military facilities in Romania. "SABER GUARDIAN 23" continues the series of exercises started in 2013 and is executed biennially, being designed to enhance interoperability in a wide range of missions for NATO member countries and partner countries.
The planned training activities include ground movements in a tactical framework, forcing of watercourses, tactical exercises with and without combat firing with the technique of all categories of forces, parachuting, as well as activities with specific medical evacuation and treatment of the wounded. The main sequences of the exercise will take place in the "Getica" National Combat Training Center in Cincu, Brașov county.
The Secondary Combat Training Center in the town of Smârdan, Galați county, the Secondary Combat Training Center in the town of Babadag, Tulcea county, the Ground-to-Air Shooting Range within the "General Ion Bungescu" Air Defense Training School in Capu Midia and Baza 57 Airline "Mihail Kogălniceanu" from Constanța county.
At the same time, training events within SG23 will also take place in the training facilities in Slobozia and Bordușani, Ialomița County, Vărsătura, Brăila County and Frecăței, Tulcea County. Along with Romania, 12 allied countries participate with troops and combat equipment for training in the multinational exercise SG23 – Albania, Bulgaria, France, Greece, Italy, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, the Republic of Moldova, the United States of America and the Countries from the bottom."
