Virgil Popescu Romania LAST MOMENT Announcement Center of the Minister of Energy

Virgil Popescu puts Romania at the center of some last-minute announcements, and that's because they target the future of our country, and that's because you can see below, that he had a series of very important meetings to ensure Romania's energy security for the next for years, something extremely important.

Virgil Popescu explains below the meetings he had in Azerbaijan, and not only, with various representatives of the country, but also of other countries that can offer Romania everything it needs to benefit fully from the solutions that are available to ensure its energy security at the present time, but also for the future.

"Today I had a working meeting with Cristina Lobillo Borrero, director of the Energy Policy-Directorate-General for Energy, from the European Commission, who participated in #BakuEnergyWeek. We discussed #RePowerEU and the investments we are making in the energy sector in Romania. We will continue the dialogue to direct the funds from #RePowerEU to the most needed projects.

I was pleased to meet again today in Baku with Geoffrey Pyatt, Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources, US Department of State, a good friend of our country. We discussed the latest developments in the partnership between Romania and the USA for the development of the civilian nuclear program.

But also about the help we continue to offer to the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. I conveyed to him that Romania can act as a regional energy hub for gas transport from Azerbaijan to Europe, but also to Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova. The cooperation between our states is strong and promising.

The green energy corridor project is taking shape. Today we had a new working meeting of the committee where the steps for starting and completing the green corridor project, which starts from the Caspian Sea to the Black Sea, are discussed in concrete terms. Partners from Azerbaijan, Georgia and Hungary participated. The Bulgarian Minister of Energy also participated, as a guest, through VTC. Our neighbors have expressed their desire to get involved in this far-reaching project.

The dialogue was constructive and substantive and I am confident that we will complete this important project. I had a working meeting in Baku with the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov. We discussed the future directions of bilateral relations, the strengthening of economic cooperation between our countries. We continued the dialogue also on initiatives aimed at strengthening the partnership in the energy field, including the expansion of the Socar portfolio in Romania. I thank Minister Jabbarov for his openness and support."
