Volodymyr Zelensky launched a rare attack on the local authorities of his own country, and this is because he accuses some representatives of the local authorities in the country of not making every effort to protect the citizens from the air attacks launched by Russia.
Volodymyr Zelenskiy says that it is the duty of all representatives of local authorities to protect their citizens in the face of constant attacks launched by the Russians, and he demands the application of the law by the judicial bodies in the case of those who do not do this.
"This long and hard day is coming to an end. First of all, condolences to the families and friends of those whose lives were taken by Russia, taken by Russian strikes.
We do everything we can to protect people. There was no such international meeting, no such international negotiation where the issue of air defense for Ukraine was not raised.
But protecting people means protecting them at all levels. Shelters must be accessible. The situation like last night in Kiev, when people came to the shelter and the shelter was closed, should not happen again.
It is the duty of local authorities, a very specific duty, to ensure that shelters are available and accessible around the clock. It is painful to see the neglect of this duty. It is painful to see casualties. And if the duty is not fulfilled on the ground, it is the direct responsibility of the law enforcement agencies to bring to justice.
Today, our country, like many other countries, marks Children's Day. But even on this day, the terrorist state took the life of a Ukrainian child. But even on this day, Russia bombed our cities – from Kharkiv to Kherson, from Kiev to Donbas.
But we made the most of this day to bring the defeat of the terrorists closer. And this day has become a moment when we bring closer the responsibility of Russia - the responsibility of every criminal, every terrorist.
Thanks to all our warriors! Thanks to everyone who trains our warriors! Who helps us with weapons! Who provides treatment to our heroes after their injuries! Thank you to all rescuers, all our employees of the State Emergency Service and other services that eliminate the consequences of Russian strikes!
