LIVE: Launch of iOS 17 and Apple's VR Headset at the WWDC 2023 Conference

The release of iOS 17 and Apple's VR headset will make an appearance at the WWDC 2023 conference, which has just started in Cupertino, California, with Apple's headquarters hosting the event, as has been the case every year for some time now, and tonight some major surprises are in store for fans all over Apple.

Apple will present the news it has prepared for macOS, iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, its new virtual reality headset, but also who knows what other online products, all designed to offer customers new experiences in terms of using physical products, especially since the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro will be launched in the fall.

MacBook Air 15 inches

  1. An improved design with a thickness of 11.5 mm, being the thinnest laptop with a 15-inch screen;

  4. 1080p video camera;
  5. 6 speakers, including woofers for background noise cancellation.
  6. M2 processor that is 12 times faster than a MacBook Air with an Intel processor.
  7. Autonomy of 18 hours;
  8. Spatial audio thanks to the 6 speakers.
  9. Prices starting from 1.299 dollars, or about the same equivalent in euros.

MacStudio

  • The new M2 Max chip, with a performance increase of 50% compared to M1 Max;
  • M2 Ultra is announced, and it represents 2 M2 Max chips combined, having 24 cores for the processor, 76 cores for the video card, and support up to 192 GB of memory;
  • M2 Ultra is the best performing chip for computers, being up to 6 times more powerful than the Intel processors used in Macs;
  • Support for up to 6 Pro Display XDR monitors, with 1 million pixels.
  • Prices starting from 2.000 dollars, or the equivalent in euros.

Mac Pro

  • M2 Ultra included in all Mac Pro models;
  • The possibility to expand the functionality through 6 PCI-Express slots;
  • Inclusion of 8 Thunderbolt ports;
  • All Mac Pros will have the equivalent of 7 Afterburner boards included;
  • Prices starting from 7.000 dollars, or the equivalent in euros.

iOS 17

  • Personalized posters for contacts from the Phone application;
  • The interface for calling contacts is completely redesigned;
  • Third-party applications will allow customizing posters for contacts;
  • Real-time transcription of voice messages;
  • FaceTime will allow the recording of video messages that we can send to other people;
  • The Messages application will include filters to search more quickly among the messages we have;
  • The application will allow you to display the most recent unread message in a group, and a faster way to respond to messages;
  • A new check-out and check-in function;
  • Voice messages are transcribed;
  • New stickers for conversations;
  • If we share the location, the application will display information about the status of the battery, or the strength of the GSM signal;
  • New button to access all available options for the Messages application;
  • The possibility of creating live stickers, with effects, which can be used in other applications that support Memoji;
  • AirDrop will allow you to share the phone number faster between users;
  • NameDrop will also be available with Apple Watch;
  • SharePlay can also be used for sharing photos and videos;
  • AirDrop will be able to transfer files including through Internet connections, if the devices are distant from each other;
  • The Autocorrect system gets better thanks to new machine learning systems;
  • A new application called Journal will be launched for the iPhone;
  • Thanks to it, we will be able to create diaries for important events in our lives, using pictures, video clips, music, texts, and more;
  • The application will offer suggestions regarding the content that we can add to create the journals;
  • StandBy, a new functionality for iPhone;
  • Placing an iPhone on its side activates a clock, permanently displayed on the screen, as long as the phone is locked;
  • Apple will allow the use of widgets to display information from the calendar, about the weather, or from the lists in the phone;
  • Integrated support for Siri, listening to music, or viewing photos from the iPhone;
  • Hey Siri turns into Siri, eliminating the need to repeat the word to continue a series of commands.
  • Apple Maps allows you to download offline maps and use them for navigation.
