DSU Romania Announces the Purchase of New Vehicles for the Transport of Robots

DSU Romania has officially announced the purchase of new special vehicles for transporting robots that are used in certain types of interventions, mainly in the case of those with explosive potential, or those in which there is a risk of chemical, biological, or nuclear contamination.

Today, June 7, 2023, four special vehicles for transporting robots, purchased under the VISION 2020 Project, will complete the fleet of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations.

The main objective is and will remain the acquisition of a high-performance intervention technique, which provides citizens with the highest quality services, meaning that the necessary efforts will be made so that this process continues in the best conditions, and the commitments assumed are optimal fulfilled.

The special vehicles are intended for rapid intervention in case of large-scale fires registered at industrial sites and platforms, as well as in commercial areas (with explosion potential), in closed or open spaces (chemically, biologically and nuclearly contaminated), with a high risk of producing accidents or personnel contamination.

The 16 robots related to the 4 special vehicles can carry out firefighting, smoke and gas evacuation, observation, action area lighting, equipment and injured person transport, analysis of the affected environment with the help of sensors and the transmission of information about it to a monitor, day and night photo and video image collection and transmission, chemical and nuclear detection, as well as breach/push, tow/tow clearance.

The robots are controlled remotely by means of the wireless joystick remote control with tablet, on which all the commands and data received from the specific intervention accessories/equipment are displayed.

In 2022, there were 43.234 fires, with a daily average of 119 events, which represents 7,1% of all emergency situations generated by the manifestation of risk types at the national level.
