Last-minute code orange weather warnings issued by DSU, the Department of Emergency Situations, and ANM, the National Meteorological Administration, for July 6, 2023 in Romania, bring to our immediate attention a series of weather phenomena of severe weather

ANM talks below about several areas in Romania that will be affected by torrential rains in quantities of up to 70 l/m65, accompanied by wind speeds of up to XNUMX km/h, hail and electrical discharges. In other regions of Romania there will be severe thermal discomfort, with very high temperatures.

Validity period: July 6, 12 noon – July 7, 10 a.m.

Targeted phenomena: atmospheric instability.

Affected areas: as per text and map.

In Banat, Crisana, Maramureș, Transylvania, Oltenia, Moldova, as well as in the west and north of Muntenia, there will be periods of increased atmospheric instability. This will be manifested by showers, electrical discharges, short-term intensification of the wind (generally speeds of 55...65 km/h), gales and hail. In short periods of time, water quantities will be 20...25 l/sq m and occasionally over 40 l/sq m.

Note: Specific phenomena of atmospheric instability will be in most areas on Friday, and during Saturday, their area will narrow to the southern regions.

Targeted phenomena: increased atmospheric instability.

Affected areas: as per text and map.

In the mountain area, the south of Banat, the north of Crișana, Maramureș, the west and east of Transylvania, the center of Moldova, as well as in the west of Oltenia, there will be torrential showers, electrical discharges, gales and medium-sized hail, and in short intervals of time (1- 3 hours) or through accumulation, the water quantities will be 30...40 l/m50 and isolated over 70...XNUMX l/mXNUMX.

On Thursday (July 6) thermal discomfort will be high in the southern and eastern regions, so that the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will reach and locally exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. It will be hot in most of Muntenia, the west of Dobrogea and in the southern half of Moldova, areas where the maximum temperatures will be between 33 and 37 degrees.

Note: On Friday (July 7) the thermal discomfort will continue to be high in the southern regions, so that the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will still reach the critical threshold of 80 units in limited areas.
