Austria: EU's LAST MINUTE Decision Against Karner after Blocking Romania's Accession to Schengen

Austria LAST TIME EU Decision Against Karner Blocking Romania's Schengen Accession

Austria receives a serious blow after blocking Romania's accession to Schengen, and this is because a decision of the European Commission came directly from Brussels, which is against Gerhard Karner and his decision to work together with Great Britain for the creation of migrant centers outside the EU, in Africa.

Austria and Great Britain want to create these types of centers in order to reduce the number of migrants arriving on their territories, including migrants from outside the EU, but the European Commission states that these types of procedures are illegal, as asylum applications must be submitted on the territory of an EU state, and only then can they be analyzed by those states.

In 2022, Austria managed to substantially reduce the number of asylum applications it received, but Gerhard Karner and Karl Nehammer want to apply even tougher measures to further reduce the number of migrants, which could also help Romania's accession to Schengen, if in the end we would be allowed to be part of this system.

"The EU Commission says no to the outsourcing of asylum procedures to third countries. Plans like those pursued by Austria in Africa or Italy in Albania are illegal. Last week, Interior Minister Gerhard Karner agreed with his British counterpart Suella Braverman to work more closely together on asylum issues.

Italy's head of government, Giorgia Meloni, also wants to set up two such asylum centers in Albania to redirect the flow of migrants. Under current asylum legislation, asylum applications can only be submitted within the territory of a member state – and not outside it.”
