Olaf Scholz vehemently opposes the delivery of high-performance weapons to Ukraine, which is at war with Russia at the moment, the Chancellor of Germany declaring today for a press agency that he does not want to deliver Taurus cruise missiles to Kiev, so that the country will not be associated with their use.
Olaf Scholz makes it clear that these Taurus cruise missiles would not be as effective as the British or French ones, in terms of targeting, so he does not want Germany to be associated with the use of this type of cruise missiles with the war between Ukraine and Russia.
"The German Chancellor unequivocally opposed the transfer of #Taurus cruise missiles to #Kiev, citing the risk of involving #Germany in the war.
"We should not be in any way associated with the targets that this system hits," Olaf Scholz told a dpa press conference, adding that he was surprised that the Taurus question was being asked again and again .
"It's a long-range weapon. And what the British and French do in terms of target control and escort cannot be done in Germany. Anyone who has dealt with this system knows that," noted Scholz."
