The Minister of Health transmits 3 new official last-minute information for millions of Romanians throughout the country, and this is because Alexandru Rafila decided to speak to all Romanians in the country about the epidemiological situation, the number of cases of Coronavirus and flu being on the decline, together with the of other viruses.
The Minister of Health also talks about the fact that Romanians are no longer vaccinated against the Coronavirus, although the vaccine is available, separately bringing to attention the fact that more and more successful cardiological operations are being performed in Romania for children who need such types of surgical interventions.
"We had 500 cases a day, now we have 500 cases a week. Unfortunately, deaths are also recorded. Safeguards and increasing vaccination coverage are things that I can't tell you big changes have happened. Practically, those who resort to vaccination during this period are very, very few.
We have the latest version of the vaccine available. Anyone who wants to can go to the family doctor and be vaccinated without any problem, but the number of cases at the moment is not a public health problem. Nor is there any question of requiring hospitals or intensive care units in any way. But we are in flu season. Other respiratory viruses also circulate. The flu is one of the viruses.
More than 2.500 children were operated on in Romania in the last 10 years, but it is not enough and this partnership needs highly qualified human resources, pediatric vascular surgery is a difficult field, there are few specialists at the European level and the expertise they have is brought in Romania for young doctors.
If 10 years ago 80% of children in Romania who had heart malformations had to seek a solution outside the country, at the moment, 80% are operated on in Romania. We have young specialists who work together with Italian colleagues or even alone in some situations. I am convinced that in the university centers of Bucharest, Timisoara, Iaşi and Cluj, alongside Târgu Mureş, which developed this specialty long ago but is quite limited in terms of capacity.
The fact that these operations are performed in Romania, with a very, very low mortality, I think is very important. Between 5 and 10 years we can acquire autonomy from the point of view of these interventions. And now, most of the operations are done in Romania, but there are operations with a greater degree of difficulty for which it is necessary to move the child, in a very short time."
