Minister of Economy LAST MOMENT Activities Stefan-Radu Oprea Romania

A new page is being written in the economic relations between Romania and Brazil, after the visit of his Excellency, the ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Romania, Ricardo Guerra de Araújo, to the Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Ștefan-Radu Oprea. This meeting marks the beginning of a promising partnership, with the main goal of organizing the first Romania-Brazil Business Forum, an event that will take place in Bucharest.

In the context of this collaboration, Brazil is identified as Romania's main commercial partner in Latin America, thus opening up substantial opportunities for both parties. According to Ștefan-Radu Oprea, the initiative to organize a business forum between the two nations is a strategic move aimed at boosting commercial exchanges and facilitating mutual investments.

Mr. Ricardo Guerra de Araújo emphasized the importance of identifying the priority areas that will benefit from this forum, among them the automotive industry, agriculture, IT, mining, as well as the oil and natural gas sector. Deeply appreciating Romania's history in the oil industry and the existence of the Petrol-Gaze University in Ploiesti, Ștefan-Radu Oprea sees in these fields solid starting points for economic cooperation.

Emphasizing the importance of diversifying sales markets for Romanian entrepreneurs, Minister Oprea mentioned the need to overcome the commercial barrier focused mainly on the EU single market, which now represents approximately 70% of Romania's exports.

The discussions between the two parties concluded with a common agreement on the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation and stimulate the presence of Romanian companies at the future forum. The possibility of organizing a new session of the Romanian-Brazilian Joint Economic Commission was also discussed. Another point of common interest was the effort by both nations to join the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which was seen as a bridge for collaboration and mutual support.

This first Romania-Brazil Business Forum promises to open new horizons for economic relations between the two countries, marking the beginning of an era of prosperity and mutual collaboration.
