The Minister of Defense transmits 2 very important, last-minute information for Romanians throughout the country, in full war between Russia and Ukraine, and this is because Angel Tîlvăr brings to our attention the fact that Romania's F-16 planes will have maintenance in our country, including those on which Ukrainian pilots are trained.

The Minister of Defense says that including the HIMARS missiles will benefit from maintenance in Romania, thanks to an agreement concluded with US companies, separately being provided information by the Ministry of Defense about the discussions held within the contact group for Ukraine, which met recently to discuss the aid offered to the country.

"The F-16 planes will receive maintenance at the highest standards in Romania. The defense industry is extremely important to the Ministry of National Defence. And AEROSTAR Bacău is one of the successful companies in the profile industry and is the Maintenance Center for the F-16 and the HIMARS multiple missile launcher.

During the working visit I made to Bacău, I also saw the line prepared for the assembly and manufacture of some mechanical elements for the operational tactical UAS aerial vehicle, the components of which will be produced by several companies in Romania. Also in Bacău, I also visited the company ELMET INTERNATIONAL, which manufactures components of the PIRAHNA V troop transporter.

The Secretary of State for Defense Policy, Planning and International Relations, Simona Cojocaru and the Chief of the Defense Staff, General Gheorghiță Vlad participated on Tuesday, March 19, in the 20th meeting of the Contact Group for Ukraine, at the base aerial Ramstein, Germany. The purpose of the meeting was to review the progress made following previous meetings, to present current issues and assessments of the conflict in Ukraine, as well as the status of support provided by the participating countries.

In his speech, the Secretary of State for Defense Policy, Planning and International Relations highlighted the support that Romania has been giving to Ukraine since the beginning of the war, including through our country's participation in the European Union's extensive effort to train the Ukrainian military within the EUMAM UA mission and to the UK-led INTERFLEX mission.

The importance of the F-16 Training Center in Romania for the training of Romanian and Ukrainian pilots was also emphasized. At the end of his intervention, the Romanian dignitary mentioned the importance of continuing support for Ukraine, at the international level, in the extremely difficult security context."
