DIGI RCS & RDS: The Official LAST MINUTE Provision, which Totally Prohibits in Romania

DIGI RCS & RDS has announced a final official order, by which it makes an important decision, here is what it completely prohibits in Romania right now.

DIGI RCS & RDS Official Provision LAST MOMENT Prohibits Leakage Romania

DIGI RCS & RDS, one of the largest telecommunications groups in Romania at the moment, has announced a last-minute official provision with a ban that it wants to see applied in our country in what concerns it. More specifically, DIGI RCS & RDS does not want its television stations to be rebroadcast through certain video-on-demand streaming platforms, which are to be activated in Romania in the not-too-distant future.

DIGI RCS & RDS says that it does not want the television stations DIGI 24, U TV, Hit Music Channel and Music Channel to be rebroadcast through Sweet TV, Megogo, or Ines Live platforms, even if they are part of the must carry list. Normally, those at DIGI RCS & RDS should allow the retransmission of these television stations, including through video-on-demand streaming platforms, but they don't want to do that, so CNA and the Competition Council intervened.

DIGI RCS & RDS: The Official LAST MINUTE Provision, which Totally Prohibits in Romania

Some time ago, DIGI RCS & RDS concluded an agreement with the Competition Council, according to which it must comply with the provisions of the must carry regime for television channels, both for reception and distribution. Those from DIGI RCS & RDS say that, if these stations were taken over by video-on-demand streaming platforms, their audience in the TV segment would be greatly reduced, so they do not want to allow the platforms to rebroadcast them.

DIGI RCS & RDS will have to provide explanations to the authorities regarding its refusal, and in the end it remains to be seen whether or not it will be obliged to retransmit those television channels, but for now this is not happening. Those from DIGI RCS & RDS have some of their own channels available in video-on-demand streaming platforms at the moment, and CNA says that if they are rebroadcast in some, they must be rebroadcast in all, according to the law in force.

DIGI RCS & RDS, of course, also has its own on-demand video streaming platform, in which it does not rebroadcast all the channels that are part of the must carry lists, but maybe that will change very soon.
