Minister of Education Official Decisions LAST MOMENT Serious Problems Romanian Schools

The Minister of Education is speaking officially about the last-minute decisions taken regarding the serious problems in schools in Romania, and this is because Ligia Deca was present at a conference in the Senate of Romania related to solving the problems of violence in the country's schools, they were met more often.

The Minister of Education explains below what kind of measures must be taken so that Romanian students can learn safely in the country's educational institutions, separately talking about the funding requests for the 2nd round of PNRAS, which will benefit many educational units from the whole country.

"Yesterday, at the conference "Safety in the educational environment and legal responsibility", organized by the Commission for Education, Science, Youth and Sport of the Romanian Senate, I was able to listen to the needs of students and parents regarding the prevention and combating of violence. We all agree: school must be a safe environment for everyone.

In the discussions I had with teachers during my visits to schools, the first thing they told me was that they don't know what to do when they are faced with a serious case of violence. That is why we developed and put out for public consultation since last summer the Procedure regarding the management of cases of violence, which came into force at the beginning of this school year. In March, the training sessions for directors regarding the application of this procedure were resumed.

We also requested the school inspectors to initiate discussions with the General Directorates of Social Assistance and Child Protection and School Safety Offices, in order to improve collaboration between institutions. It is enough ? Not! There is a need for video cameras in schools, appropriate penalties, proper reporting of cases, more school counselors and teacher training. For these actions we obtained European funding and proposed new legislative changes.

My commitment and that of the Ministry of Education to make the school a safe environment remains firm. I thank Mrs. President Monica Anisie for organizing this meeting and the Minister of Justice, Alina Gheorghiu, for supporting the teaching of legal education concepts in schools. They help children not only to know their rights, but also to understand the seriousness and consequences of their actions.

We have published the final list of funding applications declared eligible/ineligible, after the resolution of appeals in the process of verifying administrative compliance and eligibility, from the "PNRAS grant scheme Round II (series II)" call. Thanks to everyone who submitted projects!”
