Marcel Bolos, Minister of Finance, during the annual meeting of the Dutch-Belgian Constituency organized by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank (IMF/WB Constituency Meeting 2024), emphasized the crucial importance of public-private partnership (PPP) projects for the future of Romania. The event brought together finance ministers and central bank governors, providing an ideal platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences in the financial field.

Marcel Bolos stated: "I chose to participate in this international forum to talk directly with experts about how we can exploit public-private partnerships to generate opportunities for economic and social development for Romanian citizens."

Discussions continued with representatives of international financial institutions, including a team from the Fiscal Affairs Department of the International Monetary Fund and Alfonso Garcia Mora, Vice President of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), accompanied by his team.

The Minister of Finance had productive meetings with the IFC team, discussing ambitious projects such as the construction of a new 1000-bed hospital in the Municipality of Timișoara and the expansion of the existing hospital. Innovative projects in the management of residual energy in the cities of Brașov and Constanța, essential for improving the quality of life of local communities, were also addressed.

A strong point of the discussions was the example of the first public-private partnership project in the field of water in Romania, implemented in Bucharest, which significantly improved access to drinking water. This underlines IFC's commitment to support Romania through innovative financial instruments focused on climate change, water, housing and social inclusion.

Marcel Bolos reiterated the government's commitment to support and expand such initiatives, emphasizing their fundamental role in the country's progress.
