The Minister of Education announces a series of last-minute official decisions at the national level, and this is because Ligia Deca is talking about the investments to be made for the universities in the country, in order to improve the quality of education enjoyed by students from all over the country every year .

The Minister of Education explains below what the investment plan that he wants to see adopted in Romania in the future entails, and this is because Ligia Deca brings to our attention measures that we must take into account, especially since they target universities throughout Romania and will have a major impact in the future.

"The Ministry of Education, as the coordinator of reforms and investments financed by the National Reform and Resilience Plan (PNRR), launches for public consultation the Applicant's Guide related to the II call for projects "Modernization of the university infrastructure for a fair academic space", financed by the National Plan of Recovery and Resilience – Component C15: Education.

Through Investment 17: Ensuring university infrastructure, state higher education institutions can obtain grants for the construction of new accommodation, canteen, recreation and reading spaces on university campuses. The objective of this call is to develop the resilience of university campuses by ensuring the social/inclusive dimension of higher education through an adequate university infrastructure.

The call aims to modernize 6.914 recreation and reading spaces and 1.998 accommodation places on university campuses. Also, at least 40% of the accommodation places built will be reserved for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Eligible applicants are all types of accredited state higher education institutions. Total financial allocation: 27.275.000 euros, respectively 135.628.139 lei from PNRR, without VAT, as follows.

17.285.000 euros, 85.909.907 lei for recreation and reading spaces; 9.990.000 euros, 49.718.232 lei for dormitories. Within this call, a project cannot exceed the maximum amount of 4.000.000 euros. In this call, the target group includes students from accredited state higher education institutions, with especially those from disadvantaged categories (disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds, disabled, ethnic minorities or from single-parent families, etc.).

To ensure compliance with Target 506 – at least 40% of the 15.545 recreational spaces […] (11.547 modernized places and 3.998 newly built places) and 15.320 accommodation places (11.571 upgraded places and 3.749 newly built places) will be reserved for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Funding application budgets may undergo changes in the evaluation process depending on the veracity of the information submitted."
