Minister of Health Official Decisions LAST MINUTE Measures Patients All Romania

The Minister of Health has officially announced a series of last-minute decisions, which bring several extremely important measures for patients from all over Romania, here are the decisions that have been made and how Romanians will be able to enjoy what they bring, especially that they will be applied throughout the country in the next period.

The Minister of Health details below what role these measures will have in substantially improving the quality of the medical act for patients from all over Romania, but also what more people will have access to from the moment these measures come into force, which is a excellent news for us.

"The Ministry of Health (MOH) increases the access of chronic patients, with serious conditions, to the latest generation drugs, by expanding the list of compensated and free drugs. At the request of the Ministry of Health, the Government of Romania approved the Government Decision which provides for the introduction of a number of 28 innovative molecules, of which 22 new molecules, not listed until now, into the list of compensated and free medicines.

And 6 other molecules (Isavuconazolum, Adalimumabum, Dapagliflozinum, Rituximabum, Upadacitinibum and Apremilastum) introduced for indications other than those for which they are listed in HG 720/2008. The innovative medicines are intended for patients with conditions such as: Chronic hepatitis of viral etiology B, C and D; Liver cirrhosis; Parkinson's disease and other neurological diseases; Major collagenoses (systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, poly, dermatomyositis, systemic vasculitis).

Rheumatoid polyarthritis, psoriatic arthropathy, severe chronic psoriasis and juvenile arthritis; Endocrine and metabolic diseases; Chronic kidney disease – predialysis phase; Degenerative eye diseases (glaucoma and macular diseases); Chronic inflammatory bowel disease and short bowel syndrome; Rheumatoid arthritis; Psoriatic arthropathy; Axial spondyloarthritis; Severe chronic psoriasis. "Patients' access to innovative medicines that save lives is a constant concern of the Ministry of Health in the last two years.

The large number of newly introduced molecules in the list of compensated and free medicines in 2022-2023 is the best proof of responsibility towards patients. Good collaboration with CNAS and Patient Organizations make these advances possible, for which the support of the Ministry of Finance is needed. Patients with oncological, neurological and chronic hepatitis diseases have access to new molecules, and this must be achieved without in any way affecting access to generic drugs, which represent the therapeutic resource for 80% of Romanian patients.

People need attention and empathy from doctors and authorities alike. Together we work for this!" said the Minister of Health, Prof. Dr. Alexandru Rafila. The national oncology program is completed with six new state-of-the-art molecules: Lipegfilgrastimum DCI, Tucatinibum DCI, Sacituzumab Govitecan DCI, Asciminibum DCI, Immunoglobulin anti-lymphocytes DCI and Mosunetuzumab DCI. The update of the list of compensated and free drugs comes into force from 1 May 2024."
