PPC Energy, the energy group that took over 4 million ENEL customers last year, officially announced that it recently launched a public tender on the SEAP electronic public procurement platform with a maximum value estimated at over 132 million lei (excluding VAT).
PPC Energy reports that the objective is the acquisition of prefabricated 24 kV equipment for transformer stations, intended for investment projects that will take place in the period 2025–2026. The initiative marks an important step in PPC Energy's strategy to consolidate and modernize the electricity distribution infrastructure.
PPC Energy aims to improve the reliability of the network and its adaptation to the phenomena generated by climate change, as well as to promptly respond to the constantly evolving needs of consumption. The modernization of the distribution infrastructure is presented as a strategic pillar for increasing operational efficiency and ensuring a flexible and quality service in conditions of rapid urbanization and expansion of decentralized production sources.
Mihai Pește, General Manager of Rețele Electrice România, emphasizes: "Through this project, we reconfirm our commitment to providing a more efficient distribution service aligned with current requirements. Modernizing the network is not only a technological opportunity, but also a responsible response to climate challenges and the expectations of our customers."
PPC Energy states that the tender provides for the purchase of compact medium voltage switchgear equipped with a load break switch, along with SF6-free monobloc medium voltage switchgear, equipped with a vacuum circuit breaker and load break switch.

These advanced technical solutions will replace outdated installations, thus contributing to increasing the performance of distribution networks and reducing the frequency of maintenance interventions, in accordance with quality standards in the field.
The three-year contract includes sustainability criteria designed to encourage eco-responsible practices. The technical offer will be additionally scored for the use of recyclable packaging, emphasizing PPC Energy's concern for environmental protection and the implementation of green solutions in the supply chain.
PPC Energy, within the framework of the 2025 investment plan, dedicates over 730 million lei to the area of responsibility of Rețele Electrice România. The resources will support the launch of design and execution projects of a digital and automated network, capable of responding to the new realities of the energy transition and bringing solutions adapted to end users.
For the Banat, Dobrogea and Muntenia areas, projects co-financed by POIM and the Modernization Fund will be initiated, with a total estimated value of 1,4 billion lei, of which approximately 340 million lei will be covered from own sources. These projects, scheduled for completion between 2026 and 2029, will expand and strengthen the capacities of local networks.
By the end of 2025, Rețele Electrice România estimates the installation of approximately two million smart meters, reaching the highest deployment volume on the local electricity distribution market. Currently, the company operates a network with a total length of approximately 134.000 kilometers, distributing energy in the regions of Muntenia (including Bucharest), Banat and Dobrogea, covering a third of the distribution market.
With 289 transformer stations and over 25.000 transformer posts, PPC Energy reaffirms its objective of ensuring high quality, safety and performance services, aligning local practices with the group's environmental standards.
