What the new iPhone 6S brings is one of the questions of the moment because on September 9 the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), will present this smartphone together with its "brother" or older, 6S iPhone Plus, they will have approximately identical functions.
In the following I will discuss all of them iPhone 6S news si 6S iPhone Plus as they have been presented to us in countless rumors that have appeared so far, and I will tell you what chances I think each of them has to be implemented in the new products of those from Cupertino.
3D Touch – Force Touch
One of the key functions of the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will be Touch 3D, an advanced version of Force Touch, which was created by the Apple company to offer us new ways to control terminals using screen presses in a completely new way.
If the Force Touch in the Apple Watch or MacBook is able to distinguish between two types of presses, 3D Touch can distinguish between three types of presses made by users on screens: a light touch, a normal press and a strong press.
As examples for this functionality, the following are given:
- quick access to guided navigation for points of interest by long pressing such a point of interest, Force Touch allowing us to skip many steps and gestures that must be performed now;
- further in the Music application we can use Force Touch by long pressing a song to see a list of the most used functions to control the songs, replacing gestures or presses made in the interface;
- moving now to the application icons, the use of Force Touch can allow us to access menus inside the applications, this system being extremely useful to directly access certain functions without navigating through the application;
- finally, it seems that Force Touch in iPhone 6S on iOS 9 will borrow certain functions from Macs, so that in Safari we can see previews for pages, maps or information about contacts, or definitions.
Practically 3D Touch, or Force Touch, is meant to simplify the interaction with the operating system iOS 9, being able to display an interface around the point of interaction with the screen, being able to display extensive lists of functions and many, many others directly in iOS 9.
More than that, 3D Touch will work together with a tactile feedback system, so that when a press is registered we will also feel a vibration in the touch area, so we will know that our action has been perceived and will be run by the screen.
3D Touch will be implemented in iPhone 6S si 6S iPhone Plus in an identical way, the technology being able to be extended to iPad Pro.
More durable design and housing made of aluminum 7000
As I told you and showed you in videos, iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will be at least 2 times more durable than iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus thanks to one 7000 aluminum used by the Apple company for the case, aluminum 6000 being used in the past.
This major change provides additional resistance for the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, the terminals will no longer bend so easily, the Apple company can paint the devices more easily thanks to a new anodizing system that is much more efficient.
Changing the material of the case will also bring an increase of 0.2mm in the thickness of the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, it being extremely difficult to notice, and the camera will still come out of the case despite this change in thickness, so you will not get rid of this "problem".
Apart from the increase in thickness by 0.2mm Apple will increase the height of iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus by 0.09mm, while the width would increase by 0.68mm, these being the only changes, and they would be very difficult to notice by a user in normal use.
A9 triple-core chip and 2 GB RAM
We have known since last year that Apple is going to implement one A9 chip in iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, and most of the rumors that have appeared so far indicate that it will have a triple-core processor and 2 GB of RAM, just like the iPad Air 2 tablet has in its A8X chip.
In the past, Apple has accustomed us to the implementation of new processors and larger amounts of RAM in the iPad, and this year there are very high chances that exactly the same thing will happen, the leap in performance being an enormous one compared to the previous generation.
With an A9 chip equipped with a triple-core processors and 2 GB RAM, iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus they will be extremely fast and will be able to run more applications in the background, they will be able to open more tabs in Safari and they will be able to run more complex applications.
Camera - 12 megapixel main camera with 4K recording, 5 megapixel front camera
Because they will have a very powerful A9 chip, iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will come with new cameras, the main one to have 12 megapixels and the ability to record videos in 4K format, while the front one could have 5 megapixels for better selfies.
Let's start with the main camera, it will record pictures at 12 megapixel resolution, so they will be bigger and take up more space, but they will also be clearer and more accurate because the new image sensor implemented allows for clearer reproduction of moments registered.
This new image sensor finally allows the recording of 4K video clips, which will occupy up to 2 times more space in iDevices, but the video quality offered will fully compensate for the problems that many will have with space .
Finally, the new 12 megapixel main camera will be able to make slow-motion video clips at 120FPS or 240FPS in 1080p format, Apple will also allow the recording of 10 pictures per second at 12 megapixels and 14 pictures per second at 8 megapixels .
Moving on now to the front camera of iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus I will tell you that it could have 5 megapixels for recording selfies that have a much better quality, Apple also implementing a module that simulates the existence of an LED flash, the pictures recorded at night being much brighter.
Separately, Apple will allow you to record panoramic photos using the front camera of the terminals and it seems that it will also allow you to record slow-motion video clips in 720p format.
Battery
For the first time in the history of iPhone terminal launches, iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will have smaller capacity batteries than those used in iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the change coming most likely due to the fact that the new A9 chip consumes less energy.
Based on recently published information, the iPhone 6S will have a 1715 mAh battery, almost 100 mAh less than the 1810 mAh of the iPhone 6, while the iPhone 6S Plus will have a 2750 mAh battery, 160 mAh more smaller than the 2910 mAh of the iPhone 6 Plus.
Despite the fact that the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus batteries will have a lower capacity, this does not mean that autonomy will be weaker, it will remain unchanged, so theoretically our experience of using Apple smartphones should not be affected in any way.
Animated wallpaper
More than 8 years after the launch of the first iPhone model, the Apple company is going to offer us the opportunity to use a animated wallpaper as a background for the lock screen, LockScreen, the idea being already available for Apple Watch for several months.
The Apple company has recorded great animated wallpapers for the Apple Watch, they are practically high-resolution timelapses, these will make the transition to the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, but together with new ones prepared by those from Cupertino.
4G+ 300 Mbps support, new NFC chip and faster and more accurate Touch ID
iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will be the first iPhone terminals that will offer global support for 4G+ networks with speeds up to 300 Mbps, the Apple company intending to offer us the opportunity to benefit from the technological improvements made by mobile phone operators.
The GSM improvements also come with a new NFC chip, which will include an enclave chip for securing information dedicated to Apple Pay payments, thus eliminating the need to implement a separate chip by the Apple company for security.
Touch ID is going to have a software and hardware update, a new chip allowing faster fingerprint reading, but also with more accuracy, so we should have a much better experience using this system this year.
Pink color - rose gold
If you were surprised by the release of a gold iPhone 5S, then you will also be surprised by the release of some iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus pink, rose gold, the Apple company trying to attract females and a larger part of the Chinese to its smartphones.
You don't have to think that on September 9, Apple will present iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S terminals with a typical pink case, they will have a real rose gold color, i.e. a pink similar to the one used for the Apple Watch case, it being much more pleasant to look.
Launch and prices
iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will be launched by the Apple company on September 18 in several countries around the world, and Romania will not be among them, our country will be part of a launch that traditionally takes place at the beginning of November.
