Jailbreak iPhone firmware 3.1.3 – UPDATE

I told you in the article this that firmware 3.1.3 was released this evening and that it brings a baseband update, so if you need unlock DO NOT UPDATE YET!!! blacksn0w/ultrasn0w are not yet compatible with the new baseband 05.12.01

Fortunately firmware 3.1.3 can be jailbroken but currently only on iPod Touch - any model; iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G. On the iPhone 3GS it is still not possible, tomorrow there will probably be more details.

One thing VERY IMPORTANT! blackra1n does not work with firmware 3.1.3 because Apple has blocked the exploit used by Geohot so the only method to jailbreak is with the help of redsn0w.

DEOCAMDATA MuscleNerd from the Dev Team has confirmed that iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G (only those who do not want decoding); iPod Touch 1G/2G are the only compatible devices. iPhone 3GS/iPod Touch 2G(new versions)/iPod Touch 3G are INCOMPATIBLE!

Step 1

Download the version of redsn0w with tethering hack by here and unzip it. For iPod Touch 2G owners(old versions) DONATE these variants of redsn0w will be able to jailbreak your iDevice: [download id=”6,7″]

Step 2

Download firmware 3.1.2 for your phone here.

Step 3

Open redsn0w and press browse then open the downloaded firmware. CAREFUL!! the firmware should have the .ipsw extension.

Step 4

Press next and check the desired options there, I recommend just installing Cydia to be sure, then let the phone implement the hack.

Step 5

Enter the phone in recovery mode using the tutorial here and press next again.

After the restart, you should have a jailbroken phone, at least theoretically.
