Dual-Core ARM Processor on iPhone 4G?

Yesterday in the frame Mobile World Conference what is going on in Barcelona these days, Vice President of the company's marketing division ARM, Eric Schorn, reported that the new dual core ARM 9 processors will be incorporated in several devices that will be launched in the second half of this year.

The new dual core processor ARM 9 has been ready since 2007, the first prototypes being sent to mobile terminal manufacturers only at the beginning of 2009 and as the VP says ARM, the new toys will form the basis of several mobile terminals this year. Also according to Eric Schorn, ARM 9 it has 4 times more processing power than the models incorporated in the phones released last year, but it doesn't make any reference about its consumption, two cores, 4 times more processing power.. normally it should to consume much less if we refer to the desktop market, but in the absence of information we will only find out when a mobile terminal equipped with it will be launched.

Why is this important news for us? Well, because rumors from January in connection with iPhone 4G predicted that it will have a dual-core processor ARM 9, and with the announcement ARM that the processor will be included in the mobile terminals that will appear in the summer of this year, the flame is rekindled and we can only think that we will have a powerful processor in the new iPhone. On the other hand, iPad has a 1GHZ processor produced by Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), and I find it hard to believe that it will be abandoned in favor of a dual-core, Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), it's with the revolutionary products, but not quite like that.

Anyway, the rumors will start to flow from now, but we will see the final result only in the summer.
