iDongle is the new solution for tethered jailbreak intended for owners of iPhone 3GS(with new bootrom) that they installed 3.1.2 firmware with which you can restart your phone when you don't have one PC next to you to run blackra1n. iDongle it is, as you can clearly see above, a hardware device that is inserted into the phone through the cable connection port USB and in a few seconds the phone restarts automatically and you can access the system and it will resume its work without any problem.

Unlike the rest of the jailbreak "solutions" for 3.1.3 firmware recently appeared iDongle is a viable solution, MuscleNerd spread the word about its existence via his Twitter account, so if MuscleNerd considers it a viable solution for tethered jailbreak then iDongle is all you need to get rid of this burden.

Considering that we are talking about a hardware product and not a software for it PC, iDongle it will not be free, it is produced by a Frenchman and as he declares on his website such a product would cost around €30 because it is about a manual production process plus the purchase of components/etc. I would say €30 per iDongle it is a small price considering that you get rid of the burden of tethered jailbreak.

iDongle is compatible ONLY with firmware 3.1/3.1.1/3.1.2, unfortunately there is no compatibility with 3.1.3 firmware but its producer says that it is working on this but considering that there is no official software for it jailbreak I don't see how it would help... could this be an announcement that we will see an official jailbreak for 3.1.3 firmware?

This is the first step towards a jailbreak complete, which in my opinion will certainly appear in iPhone OS 4.0.
