The US Department of Justice is investigating Apple

You know very well that with the introduction iPhone OS 4.0, Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), decided to block access to AppStore of any applications made in other programming languages than those accepted by Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, so Adobe was the first victim of this ban because the company that developed it flashhad a specially made program that allowed developers to make applications in flash and then port them to the programming language of iPhone OS to be accepted in AppStore.

In a first instance, the US Department of Justice (DoJ) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will analyze whether the ban imposed by Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), is it an act of unfair competition or not and imposes a monopoly on the way applications are accepted in the AppStore, forcing developers to choose between certain platforms on which to develop their applications. Although the DoJ and the FTC show their interest, for now they are analyzing the actions taken by Apple and if they come to the conclusion that an official investigation is needed then Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), will have to answer for his actions and the way he decides to "close" AppStoreCPC.

It will focus on whether the policy, which took effect last month, kills competition by forcing programmers to choose between developing apps that can run only on Apple gizmos or come up with apps that are platform neutral, and can be used on a variety of operating systems, such as those from rivals Google, Microsoft and Research In Motion.

It is interesting that in some countries, even if they are only "in the eyes of the world", the state bodies with certain attributions in supervising the way in which companies carry out their activity, take their attributions seriously. Too bad we live in Romania.
