Last evening, YouTube changed the interface of the mobile version of the YouTube.com site, replacing it with a new one made entirely in HTML5 to improve the experience of using the YouTube site for all smartphones. Unlike the old YouTube format/application on the phone, the new version of the site is much faster and allows the activation of the "HQ" - high quality option, a function that is completely missing in the native YouTube application of iOS 4.0. Navigating through the new interface, you will notice that it has more options than the native application on the phone, and this is a good thing because it frees us from the limitations imposed by Apple.

Here are the new features that YouTube has implemented in the new interface of the mobile version of the site:

  • Completely new menu that offers easy access to all site functions.
  • The possibility to activate the HQ option even when you are connected to a 3G network;
  • The option to save video clips in the library;
  • The option to save a shortcut on HomeScreen to access the site faster;
  • The possibility to vote the videos.

What do you think about the changes made by YouTube?
